It wasn't as easy as it was when someone was there telling us what to do but we did not crash into anything and each of us in turn, turned around and road back. The tires squeaked going over the wood floors and our bodies were somewhat stiff but we did it! Once we are more experienced and less timid I'm sure it will get easier and easier.

Sounds fun! Are you sure the floors were not squeaking instead of the tires on the floor? (Just kidding! My 90+ year old home will squeak!)

Thanks for sharing and if your Segway HT display lights up during charging, it could be used as a bedroom night light!

Linda, that is so cool!

It does get easier, and as easy as it is to learn, it does take practice. Just remember Frank's mantra: "The black key is your friend. :)" I've had mine for six weeks today, and it's just in the last week or so that I've moved onto the red key.

linda-

for the first couple days it was really rainy / cold out and my wife and i used them in the house quite a bit. this was before i knew the ht did fine in rainy / cold.

we have hardwood floors and it was cool to see the non-marring tires in action, we've since given tons of demos in our home, not a mark.

cheers,
pt

pt, funny you should mention the non-marring tires. My dress shoes leave more marks! The tires sure don't! Guess we have Segway LLC and Michelin to thank for that.

All green and smiling in St. Louis.

I still vote for synchronized segging. <G>
Congrats, Linda! One thing about doing it inhouse means you get more practice in obstacle course segging <G>.

I got my Segway at lunch time yesterday (Thursday). I could not wait to get home from work and get it going. I should have stayed late at work for some overtime, but I had more important things to do. <grin>

I will bet that very few people really do put that first 12 hour charge on there before ever using it. I just had to ride it a few minutes right out of the box. I rode around the living and dining rooms.

The dog went crazy. Our golden retriever was darting around and barking and making quite a fuss. Then I stopped, leaned over and pet the dog while on the Segway and told her it was OK. She immediately calmed down and got one of her toys and sat right next to the Segway. See, even dogs know that the Segway is s good thing.

This house gets visitors in wheelchairs; I use a Danish 3 wheeled walker with pneumatic 6" tires as well as my larger-tired sitting scooter. None of these wonderful devices mars the wooden floors. This might be surprising informaton for some.

Another piece of info. I have a 5' metal ramp--called a "suitcase ramp" It holds up to 650 pounds. I can easily carry it (as it folds like a suitcase and has a handle). It fits on the back bumper of my Subaru (Legacy) and does not lock on but curves onto and grabs the bumper. (I can still see the 250lb. salesman jumping on it to show me how solid/stable it is.)
My car has a low bumper to ground clearance and it is easy to power assist Seg up the ramp and into the wagon.

Well, I'm up, had my coffee and am off to practice again....it's all so much fun. Linda
