ps - Yes I know that it's not really 5000 different viewers since since the counter increments any time someone read any of the pages. But if the average viewer red half the journal entries, then that's 500 different people checking out my web site!

The counter was creeping up slowly over the last month. But one post on Segway Chat and it jumped up to 5000 real fast. However, in a matter of a few minutes I watched it go from 5011 to 5220, so I think someone's messing with the counter. Well, either that or a bunch of you are speed readers who are absolutely enthrawled with my journals!

I will take a moment to ask if someone is pounding the "reload" button, please stop. It's a free server, and we shouldn't abuse it (even if it is entertaining to see a counter jump upward, eh?).

ps - I looked around and I couldn't find the "BIG" counter with 5500 on it. Where'd you see that?

Yeah, someone obviously triggered a script to do a bunch of reloads until the counter read 6000. This is VANDALISM, I tell you! 8^) 8^) 8^)

ps - Damn...now I gotta subtract off about a 1000 hits whenever I quote the number of hits the site got.

I still fondly remember the early days - on April Fools Day 2003, that we all clicked on a link and our CD Drives opened up.

I took another pounding late this afternoon. Now I gotta subtract off about 2000 every time I look at the hit counter! I will ask again that whomever is doing this to realize that the trailjournal site is free. Nor do they do advertising. So this type of abuse (if it continues) will force them to change their policies.
