Is it just me or is their new site a bit confusing and a bit of a wait for it to load?

The video was terrible last night.. (loading time wise)

also what happened to the stunts section of the video! I wanted to see derek rippin' it up!

Yep, things did take a while to load but I'm guessing this will ease as there are less of us banging away at their servers and as their data gets cached in other parts of the world.

Even Derek will have a hard time doing some of the old stunts on the new machines. It will be difficult to pop up on one wheel if the handlebar just moves to the side and makes you turn, instead of holding firm and giving you the leverage to lift one wheel. It is interesting that the new video shows an average commuter dropping off a step while gliding. That used to be radical stuff.

I believe it must have been Derek who created the 3D images of the new models on segway.com. They remind me of the 3D images he created of the old 'HT' a while back. Lots of fun to look at, and extremely well done.

The videos take forever because they're huge - well, the main one is weighing in at 118MB! At least the quality is good. I've downloaded them for reference.

Also, if you notice in the title in the window says beta v0.1. So, there's obviously work to be done.

Any ideas what application can be used to play back the file? The file extension is ".flv". I'm not having any problem playing it from the website in a browser, just curious if there's an app. out there that naturally plays it from a file on local storage.

marketing video, 124,129,956 bytes:

developer video, 32,388,808 bytes:

But I haven't found a way to play them directly. I'm still investigating the links provided by gbrandwood, but they seem to require a flash editing application I do not have.

Flash Video Player: www.jeroenwijering.com (http://www.jeroenwijering.com)
Media Player Classic: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkliI got the one at jeroenwijering.com to work by renaming the segway video to the stock video name in the demo, maybe not a pretty solution, but it does work without needing a .swf editor.

Thanks for the link.

Bystander, please try: http://affiliates.digitalriver.com/z/2908/CD63686/, it's an exe version that runs like a media player - more convenient than the file rename approach you mention. Media Player Classic works for me though, providing you've got the right codecs. Also, as I use Flash as a development tool, it comes with the standalone Flash 8 player. I can't seem to see this on Macromedia/Adobe's site anymore - but I could send you the exes, I don't think they're protected from distribution like the main app is. If they might be, you could get them by downloading the trial version of FLash and removing it, leaving behind the free player.
