View Full Version : Are Old HT's Now Called PT's? I'm Confused!

Over the last three years many of us 'embraced' the Segway HT (HUMAN TRANSPORTER). But it now appears that the Segway is to be referred to as a PT (Personal Transporter). Is it now 'politically correct' to refer to our HT's as PT's as several new media reports are doing, or are the 'older' HT's still to be call Human Transporter.

Surely, the intent is NOT to make a confusing reference to both! Can we have both a HT and a PT simulteanously without disturbing nature?

Chrysler has a PT. Does this mean next year they will come out with a HT?

Maybe Segway Inc. figured out that Personal Transporter implies more 'in tune' with your Segway, like an emotional relationship. Whereas the HT was just a silly transportation 'tool'.

I can't wait until next year. I hear that the new ST's (Sky Transporters) will eliminate the nusiance tires and the ST will hover 10' over the ground. I heard Segway Inc. is already lobbying the FAA for permission to cross interstate highways and be able to park them airborne. You see, that is why they are phasing out the kickstand, it will be obsolete...

The Segway Product Archive, http://www.segway.com/product-archive/index.html ,
refers the PT i180 and the PT p133. The old XT and GT remain the same.

yes, LLC is very forward thinking here,

PT (personal transport) won't piss off any ET's, (extra terrestrial's) so HT (human transport) is not PC (politically correct)

got it?

Makes sence to me PT or HT is not part of my model #i170, the new one is an i2.

The funniest part is that Walt Mossberg's quote got changed to "Segway PT," probably with the Search...Replace :)

Segway originally preferred the PT terminology before launch. But there were some fears about Chrysler's use and legal ownership of the term (in transportation vehicles), so they took the safer route of not using it during launch. It's good to see them go back to that term, because I feel it more accurately describes (and resonates better) the product -- personal transportation.

Good stuff.
