So I havent had a chance to ride my HT in a few weeks and I just went to ride it this afternoon. I went to start it and it just emitted a single beep when I entered the key. No faces, no errors - nothing. So I assume that the batteries have drained. I plugged it in and the LED on the right is red.

I have tried to find other posts regarding similar instances but dont see anything. Anyone have any thoughts? Could it just need some time to kick in? I live in an appartment so I will take a walk out to the garrage in a bit and take a look.

Next time I'll remember to keep in plugged in!

Yes, it does sound like you've draing a battery, possibly beyond recovery.

First...do a battery swap...back to front, front to back...make sure the red light tracks with the same battery. If it does, get yourself a 'known good' set of batteries, and try them.

I'm guessing you need a new rear battery pack...but check all other options first....and, as you've said....make sure to keep it plugged in in the future.

Good luck

ok, so i just did the switch. Moved front to back and back to front. The bad indicator followed the swap. I guess that should make me happy that its not the HT, but still sucks. Anything I can do to try and recover the battery or is it shot? Any tricks that might be worth trying?

I just tried caing my dealer, which are normally a great help, but it being Sunday evening they arent there. I was goign to start gliding to work again now that it has cooled down. Looks lke I might have to gass up the truck one more time. :(

Well, there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do now. How old is your PT? Still under warranty? Close to being under warranty? lol.

As you mentioned...check with your dealer in the morning and see if they have an 'out' for you. Don't forget to write down your S/N and take it to work with you, so you can give your dealer an easy reference when you call.

If you have any other questions give me a call (at the 614 number tomorrow, I'm heading out soon) and I'll be of whatever assistance I can.

Anything I can do to try and recover the battery or is it shot? Any tricks that might be worth trying? As a typical, warrantee-abiding consumer, no. There is a safety feature in all consumer Lithium-ion packs that prevents charging once the battery voltage falls below a set value. This is done to prevent a fire during recharging in case the low voltage is due to a cell being shorted out. Although Saphions are very unlikely to burn or explode, the low voltage charging cutoff limit is left in place for regulations' sake.

That is correct. There is no "reconditioning" for that battery. If your under warranty or Very Close to it, you should get a new battery. You may want to ask for a new handlebar as well although that could take a while. The handlebar is what drained your rear battery. A new handlebar can be checked to make sure it won't repeat the problem.

Curious, but did you buy from a local dealer? Did they explain that it must be plugged in? or did you buy internet. Because this sounds like internet to me and is typical of most internet sales. Sorrry you got stuck with the dead battery, but a dealer would have told you to plug it in. If I am wrong, your local dealer should eat it because they did not train you when sold.

Nope, I did buy from a local dealer. A great one in fact. I just neglected the fact and durring my move to a new appartment I put it in the garage and got busy and with hot weather didnt ride it and never go into the garage and. . . . well, you know the rest. I am goign to the dealership tonight after work and they are going to take care of me one way or another they said. Couldnt imagine not having a dealer and having to rely on internet.
