Forgive me...you will be at Segfest right?
I have to see this in person.:)

I hope to go but I'll need a bigger truck to bring both Segs plus the junk that goes with them.

Beautiful, Al!
Wouldn't two fit if the first one in was sitting more upright? Seems like a second one could be placed right behind the first one. How about just taking off the CS's, too?

With the back seat down I have another rack for two with CS on.
Now, a cross country trip...........Wife misc crap.
I may just fly, I was hoping for Segfest on the west coast, of Florida !!

We're doing well, Al! Thanks.
Yeah, that's a looooong trek in a crowded van, and beaucoup bucks for gas and motels, to say nothing of four or five days each way.
I made it hitching back in '76 from Clearwater to LA in three days, but that was around the clock with no stops and great rides--one from Mobile swapping off driving all the way to Phoenix on I-10. I remember a number of drunks were eager to pick me up so I could drive and they could sleep. Fun times.
West coast of Florida, and we're there, whenever that may happen again.

This is a very good idea and just what I need for my boat! I am currently using a manual stainless steel davit in conjunction with a cradle made of strapping that is sewn criss-cross fashion. It works, but this would greatly reduce the need for elbow grease.
Where did you get the wench and shaft system? Thanks for sharing this.

Oh is this ripe for a joke or two.
The wench? Why she came with the marriage contract. The shaft system? Why I had it when I was born! ;)
Of course, since I'm sure he means winch I'll stop now...although I do have a few more up my sleeve!

Born with it !!!!!!
I'll give exact info when I get home.
Here's the beauty of it, the arm/motor can be used on another base. Like the one on my boat !

Hi Tarkus...I have been following your various efforts on hauling a Segway with interest. I do not have any vehicles where the Seg will go inside the trunk so have had to resort to a carrier for the trailer hitch and have one on both cars and the motorhome. It works beautifully. I am 85 and not able o lift things much. Three years ago when I got my first Seg I built a rectangular carrier of one inch steel tubing with a 2" bar going thru the center of it to slide into the hitch receiver....then utilized a couple aluminum house type door thresholds turned upside down for ramps. This worked great for thousands of miles and when the carrier is already in place I can load it in 60 seconds....I have an upright clamp to flip around the power shaft. Then a year ago I made an aluminum one exactly the same. That reduced the weight of the carrier from 28 pounds down to 8 pounds...I can handle it with one hand easily. Then a couple months ago I started to build a power one using a trailer type power lift, but found a commercial one available that made it easier for me....It is very small and compact (but a lot heavier!!). I took off the platform for a small wheel chair and built a rectangular platform in its place which also folds up. I leave it on the car most of the time and it is so painless and simple to load. I just lower the lift and the platform to ground level....drive the SEg onto it and turn the key to UP and it takes 20 seconds to raise to travel position. I wish I knew how to pix on here but all that is beyond me.....anyway, itis sure an ideal bottom line for a person unable to do much physical work.....but of course it rides outside the rig instad of being protected inside it (I DO have a cover). Just MY thoughts and system. I have tried a lot.

Sounds like that works out great for you.
Rumor has it that there may be some new products to make a "hitch-Haul" simple.

Youre really onto something.
Further if this lift could be slid into a standard trailer receiver, or built into a pipe frame which stands on the floor of the wagon...youd have a sellable item.
How do you hold the winch onto the door ? Bolted ?

This works well for me as with just one extra base I'm ready land or sea.

I'm sure a creative guy could rig a receiver to accept a lift.

There goes me and my spelling again! I guess I did open that one up. Got a good laugh myself.
Looking forward to the information when you get back. Thanks!

Didn't even see that you had sent in pic's and information on your lift. Thanks you! When I get a chance, I will send in the system I am currently using. Nice boat by the way.

Boat was bought pre-injury. Afterthought tells me express boats without steps is the way to go !

Here's how high I have to lift my segway. Crane breaks down and fits nicely into the dock box on boat. I will get some pictures in of it put together, but really like the idea of the electric lift for the obvious reasons.

I bought a swingaway chair lift, I bought it off a local on e-bay for 30.00 it fits on the hitch, and when I need to get to the back the pin is removed and the arm swings the sgway out like a spare tire.
