The Reference Manual (http://www.segway.com/support/docs/Reference_Manual.pdf) says, "When using Li-Ion Battery Packs the Display may be inaccurate after long periods of storage, or during initial use."
Does the transporter shut down when the gauge says empty even if the batteries aren't?

In my experience it is very accurate when showing either “full” or “empty”. It may not be correct in between.

I went on my longest glide yesterday.
I had 3 bars remaining, then dropped to 2 bars, then 2 bars left with blinking bar.
Started heading home but, after about 3km (1.8 miles for our US friends) LIKE MAGIC it went back to 3 bars (no blinking).
I also use my Garmin GPS as a backup "gas gauge"
