Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) mentions segway on information page.
see: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/emerging/

I am in Edmonton. But, I am working with some people at the federal level to help get a status for the Seg.

Basically Transport Canada said it is NOT a motor vehicle so we can not regulate it.

They made it the provinces problem, and it is a motor vehicle by most traffic acts def. in this country.

I will update when I can name names. But, the media and positive view of the SEGWAY is on our side.

Just read the Ont. brief.

I had to laugh. Classic.. they said the Segway is the municipalities call on sidewalk use.

I am thinking of starting a new religion. ;)
In this religion we have to ride on the sidewalks every day or we will be punished by "***".

At least this way the Charter (sec 15) will protect us under equality rights.
Equality before and under law and equal protection and benefit of law!

And thou shall mount thy mighty Segway and thou shall ride this beast day in and day out on thy city sidewalks. Thou shall not ignore this nor shall thou forsake it else bad mishaps shall beseech thee and the wrath of the **** shall be upon thee. :D

:D

You are now the founding prophet! (And writer of the script)

We will call it the first commandment ( i know that one has been used before)

Maybe we will have 9 commandments instead of 10.[:0)]

just tried one (at Segway of Ontario)

what a blast!! :D (30 min intro lesson)

the units seemed really well put together (glided on a 167)

I envy you sidewalk gliders that can do it "legally"

Did anyone else notice a rather wierd aspect of the regulations: Bicycles are allowed on roads but not electrically assisted bicycles! What is the logic of that- I suppose it's no more illogical than not allowing Segways on cycle paths.
