I'm excited.

The big question when I bought my 2-year-old Seg last week was how good are the batteries. Well, I conditioned them this weekend and went out tonight. I rode a roughly measure course and then drove the course with my car. 10.2 miles and I still had 2 bars (I know those last two bars don't last long but every little bit helps). If I'm not mistaken, this is pretty good range for a set of 2 1/2 year old NiMh batteries. This weekend - the beach!!

Yes, you're doing well with that mileage. Slow and steady gliding helps ensure maximum range. Higher temperatures in the coming months will reduce that range somewhat, though, as will gliding on sand because of greater rolling friction.

I was reading the manual about battery life, and 300-500 full charges, cycle. Wonder if small charges count as full charges for the battery life.

My i180 use Li-ion batteries, and so far so good ; I have made 24km with 3/5 of the total capacity.. Other day just 20km with the same 3/5 battery lavel, but lotīs of up hill, and small medieval streets with bumps etc.

Sribas, the 300-500 charge cycles are full discharge cycles. The batteries really don't have a memory but when you top it off so to say it isn't wasting a full cycle.

. . .lot´s of up hill, and small medieval streets with bumps etc.

Bon dia Sribas,

I was looking on Google Earth at Porto, Portugal. So many red tile roofs and so close together!

I see a triangular area with a lot of trees and walkways and some buildings. Some of the labeled streets surrounding it are: Rua do Doutor Barbosa de Castro, Travessa do Carmo, Praça de Parada Leitao, and Rua Doutor Ferreira da Silva.

Can you name or describe some places you glide, or perhaps tell us your address?

Hi!
I didnīt saw your kind reply, only today....
I am sending you a screen capture of Google Map with my prefered Segway track. (I hope it is OK and uploaded)
I love to explore my city. You can have some views of it at my website http://www.360portugal.com you can search by Porto (Human Heritage, or by the Porto district on the map) and then all the views near the Douro river.
Our Metro (Underground) is being developed this last 6 years, so it is fully equiped in terms of easy accesses for disabled people, with elevators in all underground stations, and Bombardier Wagons with space for disabled people vehicles and bicicles. I am very lucky.
I am thinking about creating a special feature in my site containing information about Segway friendly villages, and a quick visual guide of each friendly street ( giving values for each street based in pavement conditions, ramps, obstacles etc)
I am planning a second segway for my wife, so we can glide together, and do this stuff, during weekends.
