Well I finally did it. I am now the proud owner of a slightly used I167. Thanks to Fred Kaplan for taking a few minutes to evaluate the purchase. Anyway, now to find the time to use it.

I bopught mine used and have put over 400 miles on it without any problems. I get about 8-10 miles on a charge and that is what I got when I bought it.

Ira is not only going to be in Long Beach but he volunteered before becoming an owner and is a vital part of our organizing committee. The funny thing is that the guy that sold his machine who lives in Bakersfield also wants to be at the Fest as well! He wants to get an XT but if not he might be renting an I-series for Fest! Like many owners, he had not heard of SegwayChat.
BTW Ira bought a very clean red button I-167 with two cracked fenders, no kickstand but the cleanest control shaft that I've seen in ages! Happy gliding!

Conratulations and welcome to the group. I bought a used machine from the estate of a fellow that was 93 when he bought it back in 1993. At 93 years of age I was fairly certain it wasn't ridden too hard.
My batteries seemed to go down quickly until I did a battery reconditioning last weekend. Since then it's like a whole new machine. I accidently started learning with the red key, so after my first week I feel fairly comfortable gliding. The dealer is going to do ther upgrade for me so that I'll be ready for the new lithium-ion batteries when thiis set finally goes.
It's sure a great conversation starter, and with my arthritis it sure beats the he-- out of going slow or not going at all! :-)
Maybe his memory was at fault. The HT wasn't available to purchase until 2002, with most deliveries in 2003. so your machine is younger than you thought.:)
