I built a trailer hitch for my Segway so that I could take my three dogs, Clover, Dagmar, and Elara along in a bicycle trailer when I glide around town. They love it and get excited when I start getting the trailer out.

I made a 1 1/2 minute video of them being pulled around by Segway and it is available on line at the following URL:

Thanx for the video. At the end did you say "it feels different with that extra weight behind" or "it didn't feel..."? Also, how easy is it to remember not to turn too sharply. What happens if you try to turn too sharp? Just a nice friction tug or is it more dangerous than it would appear? Thanx for your feedback.

It feels like there is a weight swinging behind me when I do hard, fast turns with all three dogs on board. For slow or wide turns, I cant even tell that they are there. The total weight of the trailer and dogs is about 75 pounds. The video was the first time that I pulled the trailer will all three dogs and I was using the red key.

I could not feel the trailer at all with 2 dogs or less (about 55 pounds) no matter how fast or sharp I turned using the red key.

The trailer is far enough behind that it has never interfered with the Segway during normal gliding. Of course I can't spin around in one place with the trailer hooked up, but I have been able to than more than 90 degrees standing still.

Backing up is easier that backing up with a car and trailer as it is easy to see where the trailer is going and make corrections.

But they can't stick their heads out the window.

Great fun!
I "run" our dog along side the Segway sometimes.
I just need to find some running shoes for our pooch.
If her feet held up better, she would run for miles and miles.

Peace.
