To all dealers,

I desperately need to get eight (8) units out here soonest and Inc is backlogged. We have three (3) clients who together want eight (8) units as follows:

2 x XT
1 x Solar Yellow
5 x any color i series

All of them want the units within 5 to 9 days and we just don't have the units in stock to meet their demands.

So, if you have stock you can part with replenishment in about three (3) weeks, please send me an e-mail. I'm up for a while longer (it is after 1 AM here) in the hopes of getting a fast response.

Thanks,

Steven

Steven,
Talk to MaryBeth Alosa of Segway of Northern New Hampshire. I had dinner with her last night, and spent a bit of time yesterday at her dealership...she's got stock, and she may be able to help you out

Not to be negative, but we are told that we cannot sell units outside of the U.S. That said, perhaps, since this is a "loan" or a "dealer trade" it may be OK. Any official posture on this from HQ?

No comments from HQ but once a deal had been struck I was going to let them know of this "dealer transfer" and get their take.

Since Inc reads SegChat I'm sure they already know about it :D

It's interesting that INC has any say at all what dealers do with the units once they are sold to them. As long as they're sold to a consumer in the end, my feeble mind fails to see andy qualm INC may have.

The fact that a dealer transfer / selling OUS might have to be approved by the mothership boggles my mind... All that bureaucracy does is to impede the process of giving the Segway Smile to another happy new owner.

Is it that INC has special contracts OUS, that this sort of transaction may interfere with?

Sal,

I strongly support this effort by Inc as it should help slow down gray market sales into our territories.

Why is this important? 'Cause according to a a gray marketeer I spoke with two weeks ago, he estimates that he has CONSERVATIVELY sold 300 units in the UAE alone in the last 18 months, all bought from the US and not from us.

Even if I discount his words as bragging, and only give him credit for 1/2 of that, it is still a whole lot of money out of my pocket, especially since he doesn't pay for any marketing, any of the regulation chasing, etc.

Notice that in my first para I said "it should help slow down"....in my opinion it isn't and / or Inc isn't doing enough to punish those who are gray marketing. If they were, I wouldn't have massive gray market headaches like I do.

Oh, BTW, it is cheaper for somebody to buy it from me than to buy it form the US or Europe. A LION delivered (all taxes, shipping, etc) is only $6,100, and dealer pricing is lower than US retail so why these idiots aren't buying from us is beyond me!

Steven,

Thanks for enlightening me... As I said, I don't do business.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle! :-)
