Glad you have the new format! My primitive webtv was incompatible with the last big format change and whether I huffed or whether I puffed, Lazarus could never post on the forum! I was one of the early adopters and really missed being able to post on this forum.

I went to New Hampshire yesterday and 2 people at a show on fascinating adaptive equipment had Ibots. Exciting to watch them work as I was very close.

Interesting thing when I asked a battery question. That was my huge problem 3 years ago and I wasted a year with my segway because, at the time, New Hampshire was antagonistic to giving real information.

When I asked real questions about battery behavior, my question was immediately trivialized by the vendor segway was using to sell the Ibot. ok.Maybe I am ignorant about battery issues now--that's what I thought. But, as soon as possible, the 2 men approached me. Like on an old 'Dragnet' show I was questioned. "What had I heard?" "When did I hear it?" and on and on. So, I suspected that those of us who travel over short distances but rely heavily on our 'chariots' still have the same problem. Batteries have memory and eventually will shut down after very short distances even when the indication is full battery.

A couple of years ago I did learn to empty the battery totally by leaning it against a wall and letting it run out. Recharge fully. Repeat process 2X more. This resets memory to original parameters.
Wish someone had told me 3 years ago that they knew it took 3X for this to work effectively. The new batteries I bought were not necessary.

Sorry if this is old news here--I have not been able to access the forum in so very long.
Linda

Great to see you again. Perhaps this can be a fresh start for many community members and we'll see old names/faces come around to say hello!

You've got me beat. It must be Spring. Everyone is springing out of the wood work. Segways are coming out.

Of course it's Spring! Way to go with the vBulletin change - seems like you managed to drag all of us back into the fold here.

Hi All! I'm here in NYC and it seems to have been awfully Seg-quiet recently. I'm not surprised at not having seen Frank around, as he's farther downtown, but I don't recall having seen Bill or Itsi or Mac or any of the uptown folk either...at least not since our spectacular Dinner in the Park with Dean.

My office has now moved to 23rd Street on Madison Square, and I keep a P series in the office for zipping around midtown.

Come to think of it, now that I'm plugging back in, I need to find a Seg dealer/maintenance shop in New York. I've got one unit that needs to have the kickstand replaced, and another that's completely shot and needs an overhaul. I seem to think that there's a dealer in Long Island City, right?

WE are s ill here( my son Steven). Our Segway is alive and kicking with a new set of batteries. We use it all year round except for the big snowstorm to commute between our shops on 28th & Madison and 37th & Third. We are installing a headlight and tailight, so as to let the other sidewalk people know we are near.
At this point, the original investment has paid off in saved time and cabfares
( mostly the saved time).
It is a "fixture" in our stores and get lots of questions from our customers..

Is it an absolute fact that if you run down the old batteries completely 3 times it brings them back to their original power? Thanks.

Is it an absolute fact that if you run down the old batteries completely 3 times it brings them back to their original power? Thanks. The NiMH packs can be reconditioned this way, but it may not work in every case.

For more info, see the battery care booklet (http://www.segway.com/support/docs/battery_care_booklet.pdf) at Segway, Inc., and the unofficial battery FAQ here (http://www.spinfoot.com/SegwayBatteryFAQ.html).
