I am located in South Eastern Pennsylvania and am looking for a very lightly used Segway p133 model. Ideally I would like some sort of warranty or guarantee, but this is not required.
Anyone?
Thanks!

Please see my post in the general forum, also depending on your location, we might be your local dealer. I have a slightly used P series with a Full Manufacturers warranty for sale (it was used at our dealership for a short amount of time) Please let me know if you are interested as we have some great finance options (0% interest for 12 months) and we are a certified Segway Dealer and Service Center.

Thanks for the replies. For the P series Segway you have, would the warranty begin once we purchased it, or has it already started?
As for service: what are the most common issues that go wrong with Segways that need servicing? I'm a bit leery of what will happen after the 1 year warranty. How expensive is service?
Thanks.
Parts replacement can be expensive, no getting around that. However, these units are built, as they say, like Sherman Tanks! I have a p133 and once I got my battery issue fixed, I've never had any problems with it. On my i167, which I've had since Christmas of 2002, and have used almost daily, I've had NO problems. Biggest deal was having to get a software upgrade, and that was because I had to send it back to the factory - no one was doing it locally (I don't have a local dealer).
I think the issue I've seen the most about was rubbing on the wires in the control shaft due to frequent changes of position of the control shaft height.
On the whole, repair is minimal.

Lundy, the P series warranty will start upon purchase so you will get a full year. As far as the average problems with the machine, there really isn't any. Keep your tires inflated and the batteries charged and you are good to go! If you would like to, give my office a ring and I can assist you with pricing, payment and any other questions you would have!

There is a lot of advantages to buying from your local dealer. If you plan to invest that much in a machine, wouldn't you want to try before you buy? Also we provide a full safety orientation with every machine sold and if you have any warranty issues we are right around the corner. That is something that a dealer a thousand miles away can't provide.

Thank you everyone for all of the helpful replies. I can definitely see the benefits of purchasing from a local dealer.
Do some dealers offer custom extended warranties if you get the service through them, or do they have to be "official" 1-year Segway, LLC warranties only?
I am keeping my eyes on this thread for any Segway p133's that drop below $3,000 and still have some warranty left. Please post any such items you have available.
One last question - I have seen some posts regarding an "i167" model I believe. What are the differences between that and the "HT" model?
Many thanks,
-Steve

Steve, the HT designation ecompasses all Segway Models. The i167 is the first model that was released to the public, then the i170, and now the i180. The difference between the models is a few software and cosmetic changes. You can see the difference between all the HTs here: http://www.segway.com/segway/specs_compare.html . As far as extended warranties go, sometimes you can purchase an insurance plan that will protect you against damages. That is always my suggestion to customers. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else, and if you have some free time, stop on in and try a Segway out. We offer free demonstrations.

Austin,
Thanks for the comparison link...although that does not detail the comparisons between the different "i" models (i167, i170, i180, etc). I'm looking at some used Segways still, mainly the P series but also the i series, so it'd be nice to know the specific upgrades/differences between the i models.
Thanks!

The i167's and i170's were sold with NiMH batteries only, and other than color they are the same. An upgrade in software to 14.0 is required in both units to use Lithium-ion batteries, most dealers can upgrade this for you. The i180 is sold with your choice of batteries and you get three colors to choose from. The New Commuter and Explorer packages offered make them a nice choice if you are looking for a New unit.
We have New and Used i167's with the software upgraded to accept Lithium-ion batteries. Some people like the Titanium color and are not going to use the HT for long distances so the NiMH batteries do just fine, or they travel on Airlines which do not allow Lithium-ion batteries. They can purchase Lithium-ions later on if they need to.
All our pre-owned, or demo units are under warranty and in excellent shape. Please email, call, or visit our website at www.SegwayNM.com if you are interested in purchasing a New or Used Segway HT.
If you have any questions about the HT you are about to buy Call Us, we can help you make the right decision when purchasing a Segway HT, even if its from someone else.
