Interesting brand alliance here. Perhaps the sort of thing Segway should consider doing?

I think there are all sorts of possibilities here. A few years ago I mentioned that I'd love an "Orange Crate" (as in the old Schwinn Sting Ray) edition Seg. I always wanted an Orange Crate as a kid, and did buy one when Schwinn did its limited edition re-release about 10 years ago. It's still new in the box. Someday when I have room to display it I'll put it together.
There would no doubt be licensing fees involved in creating something like an "Orange Crate" Seg. In this case, Schwinn would want money from Segway. But there are probably other products where companies might be willing to pay Segway for putting their names on Segway's products. Cross-branding might open up a whole new range of colors and styles, amp up the Seg's appeal to "popular culture," and maybe even help lower prices. Whaddya think? A Levi's Seg? A Coca-Cola Seg? An Orange Crush Seg? Now we're talking! Hey, I like orange! <grin>
I've complained a lot about Segway's lack of marketing and their not taking ownership for the success of their own product. Well, here's a very real possible solution. If Genuine Scooters can do this with Black Cat, why not Segway? Cross-branding is an area of marketing that holds enormous potential.

I am sure that I am demonstrating just how lame I am, but I don't get it. Black Cat scooter? It is clearly not marketed to me, as I don't get the reference, other than the cute paint job...
The problem with cross branding, as I see it, is finding a cross brand that appeals to your market audience. I am completely ignorant to most things popular, so clearly I would not fit much in the way of demographics that are easy to identify...
I do not watch sports. I do not watch prime time television. I get much of my news from talk radio, cable news, and my own research. I am very active in local government. I am very into my kids and family. I am more likely to see a commercial on Sponge Bob than on survivor or American Idol or whatever the next fad is. I have my own television show on cable access, and when the station manager suggested an eliment that would be good to borrow from the Supranos, I had to get a tape of it...
Now, how out of the mainstream am I? Very. How far out of the demographic for who buys segways? I do not know. I have not yet seen the median for our buyers group...
I wish Brooster luck and success in this direction. It would be nice to see that he hit it square on the head. I just do not understand this tack...

Don't wish me luck Karl, as I have absolutely nothing to gain from this idea. I'm just trying to offer a possible solution to a company we'd all like to see stay in business. Seeing Segway finally jumpstart sales and mass appeal would be reward enough for me.

This one I get. I got my son a little red trike when he was 2 and he could actually ride it at 2 1/2. I also got him a radio flyer wagon and we still have it. My daughter used the trike when it was her turn, and they both use the wagon...
Interestingly, at the last town fesival, I towed both kids (6 and 2) in the wagon (which has a hitch and handle) when they did not ride with me on the seg...
