It looks like the Segseat will be available soon. Here is what their website says.
This site is being finalized.
We will be able to take orders 1st-2nd week of February,
Delivery will be around 3rd-4th week of February. We are also going to be making it available through a majority of Segway Dealers by 4th week of February. We apologize for this repeated delay, we thank you for patience and understanding through all these past months.

Scotty have in changes in material or design been made to your seat now that you have the production models coming out? Price? I think they are great and will enable many more folks the opprotunity to glide.

$749.00. A bit high but I would assume these are almost "one-offs: and that can be $$.
There is also a very limited market so it would take "Brass ones" to make a large production run.

Tarkus figured it out.. machining parts in small runs is crazy expensive... I also run very high-end radio control cars, and just as an example, here is a part on one of my trucks...

these are about the size of a fist, but they sell for $517.50...
mostly because they are machined in runs of about 50...

Or... the mall you visit has a strict wheelchair policy. Now you have a wheeled chair. If they get constipated about it, you can drag along two small caster wheels to make it a four-wheel wheelchair.
