Yup!
He is John Berry of Norfolk England fame! He is a member of SegwayChat and writes often about our difficulty in UK in getting insurance for our Segway.
I hesitate to post his email address on an open forum without his prior permission but if you email me I will send it to you.

Mine I won on The auction..Broke Twice..First the cable and Ball pulled thru the slot and I epoxyed it back in( the hole was enlarged where it pulled thru) Second the small piece where the cable goes broke off completely.. Now I drilled a hole just a little over the size and again with the epoxy..I still like the stand but it would be great if it were made of Steel and not cast aluminum...I sent an e-mail to John Berry thru ebay..But no responce

Forgot to mention he has one up for Auction right now (Jan 22 06)

One little tid bit, Segway stated that the warranty will be voided if anything other than the plastic stands are used. It is a safety/liablity issue.

Yes, I know all about that.

Thats there "out" for poor design of the oem stand. My HT is out of warranty and I will now fix that flaw.

Just one quesiton - I have one and it tends to drop down after going over a few bumps, I can hear it dragging, and have to kick the little handle outward to snug it up again. This may be because I have Li-Ion batts and didnt chop off 9/16 from the stand foot, wanted to keep it round. Anyway I solved with some velcro on the handle, but wondering if a stronger spring would do it.

Go to Ebay and search Segway ..Auction number 7218465625..I highly reccomend the seller his ebay ID is 160304 ..He's located across the Pond in England..The stand is excellant ..BUT I was very abussive I guess..But no problems with the replacement one..And Unclejay easy on those Bumps..And the instructions did say to cut off a small amount from the disk..Wish I had Lions.Heck wish I had 14.0..Oh well all in good time...

Thanks to all of you who have stated your appreciation for my SOLID METAL STAND.
I have a new product in the pipeline, a battery discharger. This way all of you with Ni Cads will be able to keep yopur batteries in top shape with maximum range.

Think I should just mention that my SOLID METAL STAND was deliberately designed NOT to be unbreakable.
There are certain rare conditions which, if occurring at the same time, can cause an absent minded glider to drive off when the stand is down in such a way that "somethings gotta give" In which case it had better be the stand rather than the stand mounting lug, or worse, risk of a gear failure.
This happened to me when testing one of the original prototype stands playing golf, I parking on uneven ground, which coincidentally and unluckily rendered the HT platform to become parallel. I then stepped back on (I never/ever use the rubber button to engage balance mode), forgot the stand was down and drove off, the result was a damaged stand plate lug. I therefore changed the design so that the cable retaining hole would give way first. I must re-iterate that this situation is rare and is really heavy abuse of the HT.
I am sure you will all understand my reasoning here.
Regards,

John Berry.

My stand just broke - is this something I can buy and replace myself? Are instructions on how to replace it included?

Yes and yes. However, If Segway, Inc. is still being generous, you might be entitled to a free replacement stand. (First one only). You ought to contact Segway, Inc. or your dealer to find out.

Midnight Blue: Part number 1693100005, $43.00 (http://shop.segway.com/detail.aspx?ID=61)

The old gray one doesn't seem to be listed anymore, it's PN was 1693100001, and it's price was $39.00, in case a dealer has an old one around.

I have a used I-167. The previous owner broke the kickstand and got the replacement. When I bought the HT from them, they included the kickstand replacement instructions with the other documentation.

On an I-167, the wheel and fender have to come off to get at the fasteners for the kickstand. Toolwise, you'll need the following:

Tools Required
> 16 mm deep socket
> Ratchet that will accept the 16mm deep socket
> Torque Wrench set to 50 N-m that will accept the 16 mm deep socket
> Rubber Mallet
> Torx T-20 wrench/bit
> 4 mm hex wrench/bit
> Torque Wrench set to 1.5 N-m that will accept the Torx and Hex bits

Here's a link to the replacement instructions on the Segway, Inc. website:

http://www.segway.com/support/docs/parking_stand_0604.pdf

The instructions may have been revised for the I-180. Someone at Segway, Inc., or a dealer would know better.

Yes, Instructions are the same for the i180. The Wheel/Tire must come off as well as the fender, to get the the kickstand bolts. The Midnight Blue stand for the i180 is $43.00.

I have several in stock...
