Now that it's FREEZING I'm driving a car again and I'm catching myself annoyed and WANTING TO SPEED so bad but restrained myself for obvious reasons. I realized that the Segway's Speed limiter made me except life at that pace and I always had a sense of serenity as I traveled.

If anything, maybe the segway can prove that speed limiting in cars (which would be hugely rejected) is not only safe, but eases lifes pressures.

Knowing that I can do 80 at the press of a pedal but I'd get arrested for doing it causes me pain. My sense of good judgement says "don't speed" but I remember that at times my sense of good judgement equaled "I'm a good driver, I can handle doing 80 in a 25" which I think it was most 30 and younger drivers are thinking.

Maybe the Segway can prove to elimate that?

Useless 2 cents.

This thing rules.

THe speed limiter on the segway stops you from going faster than the segway can handle.

The speed limiter on the segway does not stop you from going too fast on the seg for the local conditions. If you are doing 12.5 miles per hour on a crouded sidewalk, or gliding drunk, it is just as inappropriate as speeding in a car.

I feel that speed limiters are not a useful tool when the operators are responsible enough to do what they should, and will not work to make responsible operators out of those who are not...

Just my opinion.

Each road you travel should be just a bit better for having had you pass.

The speed limiter on a Segway HT is much like the speed limiter built into many cars today. If I remember right, the legal limit for a car is around 140 mph. If you hit that, the "governer" will kick in and cut back on the engine power so you can't exceed that speed.

On some cars, the governer is much lower. On most cars, they can't go that fast in the first place, so it isn't present.

Much like Karl said, the speed limiter on the Segway HT is designed to keep you from going faster than the Segway HT can keep up with you (or at least to the speed you've set when you started up the machine with the black, yellow, or red key). The speed for the red key limiter just happens to be around the same "sanity" speed for pedestrian travel--about the same speed as someone running on their feet.
