I just found a dated story on the internet.
Evidently Bush came to meet with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on his Segway. He ended up giving it to The Prime Minister. The question is wheather this is one of the units Dean gave to Bush Sr.

Yeah I saw this on the news, it was buried in the forum at:

and I thought it deserved more prominent attention, glad you mentioned it.

Actually, I think what Bush said to Koizumi was, "I couldn't get this dern thing to work, maybe you can get some of your people to fix it".

:D j/k

It was interesting to read comments from those who wallow in their idiocy...

There must be an awful lot of idiots here in the USA too.
Bushie is at, what, 30% approval? ;)
So many jokes, so little time.
It would be funnier if people weren't dying in Iraq every day.

Peace out.

How about recognizing this event for what it is?

An American President makes a sincere gesture of friendship and diplomacy by presenting the Japanese leader with a special gift which itself represents an historical milestone: a distinctly American invention from the twenty-first century, which invention, despite its not yet being recognized as such, but will inevitably be recognized from some future vantage point as having been a pivotal accomplishment in the transformation of human transportation technology away from the nineteenth century quagmire of the internal combustion engine.

The President knows how useful the Segway is in a city, he sees plenty of them here in DC. Many of us know that there were plenty in front of the White House during SegwayFest DC.

And his V-P uses one regularly too. And if DRAFT has anything to do with it all of the vets who have lost a leg in Iraq will get one too!

So no wonder he gave the Segway as a gift. It is a great one to give, for many of the reasons above!
