One of the reviews there makes reference to the p series costing 2000 dollars and yet the Amazon store lists it at 4,000. Will the small p series drop to 3k or 2k anytime soon?

There was a point in time where the P series was at Sam's Club for a deal like that but you won't see price drops anytime soon. The holiday sale this year is a free GPS with a purchase of a Segway, other than that, it just depends on if the local dealer offers a discount.

During the summer of 2004, Segway LLC put the P series on sale for $2999. I believe the sale lasted from June to September. They did not repeat that sale this past summer.

Is getting an i-series worth the extra 500 dollars?

Hmm, is this i-series worth the extra 500 dollars (over the p series)?

And is that really the latest model? It is what comes up when I search i180, but it doesn't seem to be the red/yellow/midnight blue model that I see on segway.com

That, on the other hand, does, but it says it is not available.

Gumby, Get an I Series from a dealer that is close to your home or one that mail orders on the buy sell section of this site. Amazon doesn't know what it is selling. They are probably selling an I series without the lithium ion batteries. Get the lithiums, get an I 180.

Hrm, I was really tempted to buy from amazon.com because I have a hefty gift certificate there (which I was hoping to use to shave off a few dollars from the price of the Segway). If I WERE to order from Amazon, should I go ahead and order the [apparently old] i-series listed or wait for the "not yet available" i180?
