Smashing pumkins...PULL!!!!!

We got a call the other day for a donation to a contest at Arroyo Grande High school. It seems there is a club, if i understand it right who are affiliated with FIRST, holding a contest for launching pumkins with catapolts or any other device robotic or not. The one that launches it the farthest wins a two person guided tour with us. When the kids heard that they would win a Segway tour it kicked'um into high gear. They are really excited. We are going to be there Sat the 19th. News crews and local papers. Finally some constructive to do with a pumpkin.

I've seen this on the Discovery Ch. Pumpkin Chunin I believe is what they called it. The people on the tv show were pretty intensely into it. There were some prety large and complex machines from small catapults to huge trbuchets on the back of semi trucks. Sounds like fun for some high schoolers!

Love the weather, just wish there was a punkin chunkin contest out west somewheres. Looks like a fun spectator event.
