Ode to Segway...
Now, for going from point A to B,
There's a new gadget you'll have to see.
Just two wheels it's got,
Yet unstable it's not,
And it's totally pollution-free.
A wheeled platform with handlebar grips,
And with gyros and sensors and chips.
If by foot it's too far,
Yet too short for a car,
The Segway's ideal for those trips.
As you're gliding along you may find
That your Segway is reading your mind.
When you lean fore or aft
On its vertical shaft,
You'll think, 'One giant lean for mankind'.
It'll take you all over the place,
And it doesn't need very much space.
For a penny a mile,
You can travel in style
With an ear-to-ear smile on your face.
User-friendly, intuitive too,
And it gives you a wonderful view.
You'll be breathing fresh air,
Feeling wind in your hair
As its tiny face smiles back at you.
There is just one thing I must confide:
I have yet to take one for a ride.
But I'm sure - when I do,
All I've said will prove true,
And you'll soon be seeing them far and wide.
Some have said that the future is here,
But, as I wait, it would appear
That mine isn't here yet.
When IT is, I will let
Out a cheer that you'll hear loud and clear.
So, to Dean and his talented crew:
Don't forget me when training is due!
(I'm afraid that this verse
Has gone from bad to worse,
So I'll segue to some other venue.)
