I just received a 2004 Segway i170 that I purchased on e-bay. Should I leave it pluged in all the time or wait till it runs down. It has NiAH batteries. Thanks

Greetings dljacoby,
The general rule of thumb is to leave it plugged in as much as is practical. An exception would be if it hasn't cooled down after a ride yet. Let the powerbase cool to below 76 degrees F, (or so - it might take 15 mins. to a couple of hours, depending on ambient air temp.) then keep it plugged in until you start riding it again.
Here's an official source of information about the HT batteries from Segway LLC:

Here's an unofficial source of information about the HT batteries from the posters here at segwaychat:
Unofficial Battery FAQ (http://www.spinfoot.com/SegwayBatteryFAQ.html)
You will want to read-up on "conditioning" if you want to get the most out of your NiMH packs.
See this page (http://www.segway.com/support/docs/) for more official documentation from Segway LLC.
In addition, you may want to contact Segway LLC to arrange to have the HT registered in your name.

Don't leave it plugged in all the time ;)

terryp is right of course, if you plug it in while in balance mode, it will trickle charge, but the speed limiter is set very low.
And there's that pesky "extension-cord-length" range issue...

Socrates,
I know, I noticed terryp's wink icon. My follow up post to terryp's was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. Look at the timestamp on terryp's post. It's possible he hadn't noticed my first post responding to dljacoby's question, as his post was only about one minute after mine.
dljacoby is a new poster, that means his posts are moderated for a while. He won't be able to respond as quickly as those of us who are off moderation. If he has more questions, we may not see them for several hours. That's why my first post in this thread was more elaborate.
