Today the first arrivals came into town, and we have been up and showing them the town, gliding, and having a great time.

As one attendee said about the hotel, Location IS everything!

Final Event planning happens on Thursday, as well as some ceremonial stuff at the Capitol.

Friday SegwayFest DC gets into full swing...

See you all in a day or two.

We'll try to leave you a morsel of fun, Jim! If last night is any indication the people are going to be wonderful, the weather is wonderful, and the Segways...well, that goes without saying.

Keep in mind if you're coming in tomorrow before 2pm that there will be group glides guided by the three TOP DC Segway Glidemasters: Will, Dan, and myself. We will each "explore" a different area of DC.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Tim (the sometimes argumentative, but genuinely nice guy) Kanaley

I feel your pain. For me it's an 50th aniv. party I have no way out of.
The worst part is it's in Jersey and I would be soooooo close to DC.

I am sooooooo bummed! I had the flight booked, the rooms booked, and plans to get from the airport to the hotel arranged. One slip off a curb stopped all my plans this weekend. Slipped, fell, landed on my left elbow (steering arm) broke my elbow in 4 parts. I had to have surgery and spent the last 6 days in the hospital, I now have a plate and seven screws added to me. I am also typing with one hand laying down so please excuse any typo's.

Yeah this really sucks, timing could not be worse. Well there is always next year :-(

Tappedout, it's not completely clear. Were you walking or gliding when this slip happened? Either way you're right, the timing couldn't have been worse...or the arm. PD1

How fast does it go? Slower than a bicyle's fastest speed, slower than a bicycle's slowest speed.

PD1,

LOL walking. Wish I was on the Segway, smarter than me!

Tapped we saw your hotel registration, then it disappeared! Word on the street was you would be here. DC even has the riot police ready! But now they will have to go chase after some war/anti-war protester instead, or maybe an IMF protester, or someone else....

With all the gliders around the Hotel Washington, And let me tell you there are alot, they would have a hard time finding one of the people using a Segway doing anything, that was out of the ordianary.

We will miss having you here, since you are one of our DC SEG yahoo chat members....

Next time you are in coming up this way, let us know....

People are welcome to their positions...

I for one would rather not have war, but since we were attacked continuously for the last several decades, (Betruit Barracks, African Embassies, warship bombings & and first WTC bombing) I don't think that allowing them to bring the war here is better than taking it to them.

I also was priveliged to participate in seeing 3 disabled, Iraqi war veterans recieve their own segs... Great idea and well exicuted...

The DRAFT ceremony at the Capital was great!

DRAFT awarded 3 Segways to dis-abled Vets who served in Iraq.

You should see those guys glide - like pros, and they only just learned to do it yesterday morning....

With the DRAFT award ceremony up on the Hill, SegwayFest DC is off to a GREAT start!

Not the embarass Will or anything here, but I just wanted to let everyone know how helpful he was yetesrday. I was in town helping out, but had to be back home for work-related things today and tomorrow. He picked me up at the airport at like 6:30 in the morning, made sure I had a Segway HT and transportation all day, recruited a friend to get me back to the airport in time, and even picked me up some juice to drink.

Okay, now that we're done with that, I need to know _everything_ that's going on out there that I'm missing out on :)

Glad you got home safe, would have been better if you were here.

Okay, so ... bustier (sp?) purses aside, how was the day? News, we need news! We're all (most of us) there in spirit and would like to hear what's happening. Today, tomorrow, Sunday ...

Old SegFest people sort of get this in their blood, I guess. Just because I'm not there doesn't mean I'm not "there." [8][:P] Did that make any sense? LOL

Thanks!

You want NEWS.... Well you should have been tuned into most of the TV stations for the evening news, we were on most stations.... Now just waiting for the morning papers!

Everyone is having a great time (well maybe not the corporate folks) but the owners and dealers seems to be enjoying themselves.

Tours today were wonderful... Except I almost got my group arrested for being "A Threat To National Security" - but beyond that we are doing well.

The Welcome Reception, was WONDERFUL.... then everyone went on their way to dinner.

Everyone in DC SEG is here and helping out, and doing their part to support SegwayFest....

IndyFIRST - It is NOT KARL that you have to worry about.... It is one of your OWN!!! Your really do need to send the Indian Posse out on these events to keep your state SEG's reputation intact!

WILD MAN WEN.... Let's see when I got to the event, the "Sales Represenetatives" were in his web....

And I had to rescue those poor girls!!!
