Quorum ELERT Personal Property Alarm Protect Assets...I carry this small item and it Protects my Segway from those that like to touch or try to stand on the Segway..Has a Strap that I wrap around the CS.. Just one movement of Seg or the Alarm it goes off in three seconds ..and is it loud..Bust your eardrum loud and it scares any one that would even think of touching your stuff
Using advanced electronics, the ELERT sounds a 103-decibel alarm, warning you if someone attempts to move one of your valuables. With the ELERT there are no keys to carry or lose. Pres two buttons to arm, and your own three-digit code to disarm. In the event of an emergency, simply press two buttons simultanelusly to sound the alarm (in otherwords you can protect yourself as well when you are out and about). The ELERT will draw tremendous attention to a situation, scaring off would-be thieves or intruders. The ELERT is small, lightweight and can be attached to virtually anything. Use it to stand guard over your Segway while your in a Coffee Shop or Store

I would like to see the machine give the stick shake warning, then a recorded voice suggesting to stay away.
After that, maybe an electrical shock or razor blades that automatcally protrude from the grips...

Why is it that about one out of 100 just seem to feel that it is OK to just jump on your Segway?

Hi,
A time ago we also had somebody who used the cy-curity alarm on the segway. It's originally build for a bicycle, but apperantly works great on segways too. More info on: http://www.cy-curity.com/prodinfo.htm
Kind regards,

Free enterprise at work.
Note the price disparity on these two sites.

Thats the One I have on my Segway..The Buildlink site is tring to sell at the first issue price in the early 1990s...The goldmine site is more upto date with what these are selling for now-a-days..And there is no differance between the two ..SO if any one is going to order go with the goldmine one. And save $30.00. Unless you like to throw money away..I personaly can reccomend the ELERT..It will scare the day-lites out of any one moving your Segway..

Oh, great, so Segways with alarms on them parked all over the city, so even if they are bumped accidentally we get 103dB alarms going off?? And where are you to do something about it?
Living in the city, I DETEST car alarms. They are ineffectual and they just make the residents mad. I get kept up at least 4-5 times a month by a ROGUE car alarm outside my house.
I would prefer to see anti-theft devices that simply make the Segway harder to steal. How about handlebars that come off really easily so that you can just take them with you? Then you just lock up the base? Maybe a retractible bubble-shaped cover that slide in place over the foot-pads and locks so there is no way to stand on the unit? Then there's the removable tire lock that would keep the tires from moving, but that can be totally removed to avoid any "accidental locking" during riding.
I do like the razor-blade idea as well! :)
In the interim, I always lock up my Segway with the CS facing out and the "entry point" backed up to a wall ... I lower the CS all the way down and use my kryptonite lock. Works so far.

I like Jeff's idea of a pre-recorded voice asking the person to not touch the segway.
Adult deep-toned female voice calmly states: "Please don't touch the Segway"

The noise is no good. It annoys passers-by, but they won't do anything. Meanwhile you, absorbed in the thumping discothèque or the hectarious Wal-Mart, might not hear. Better would be a silent alarm to ring a beeper or vibrator in your pocket via walkie-talkie signals. Let the thief take his time until you get out there with a hatchet! Anyone have experience with a silent alarm?

How about if the Segway could just call 911??
