How would you actually buy a set of LiOns without also buying a new I 180, that's what I'd like to know! I know I'm impatient, but I'm not the only one ( my original set of nimh batts have at least 2000 miles on them and still work so I guess that isn't too bad...

Tadek,
Order a new Segway GT, XT, or HT i180 w/ Li-ions, and you can get it overseas. It may already be there, or it may take a while to arrive.

Hi Tadek
Sorry, mis-understood your question.
It's OK to send Li-IONs by air freight.
They cannot go as air freight on a passenger aircraft, but they can go as air freight on a freighter aircraft.
So speak with the likes of DHL or Fedex and tell them that you need the consignment to go on a freighter.
Declare them as Li-Ion batteries.
They should be able to handle it with that info.
Michael
Routes might be a bit longer, so try and ship it a day or several, before you travel.
Good luck.

I am pretty sure that the lithium batteries will not be able to be shipped through any type of air services. They must be shipped ground or shipped with a hazmat certificate if they are off the machine.

This brings me to a point. A friend flew down with his new 180 & to my surprise it had Lions. No questions at the airport.
Whats up with that ?

And when update software will be available to E.U ? (if i have bought my batteries in US)
thanks
Who knows? It hasn't been announced. I would guess it will be available when the batteries become available as an add-on option in the EU. Makes sense.

Most Segwayers already know it, but:
Segway Austria told me, that the software update will be available with the new batteries. The new batteries as an upgrade will be available in autumn, but it actually may be later.

I sent Li Ion batteries from Las Vegas to New Zealnd by DHL cost $250 US approx delivery time about 4 days. DHL fly the batteries on their cargo planes but need to be labeled correctly. Batteries are not permitted to fly on passenger planes.
These batteries are the greatest I die before they give out.
Best toy I ever owned.
