Turns out if you call the Hotel Washington during non-business hours, the call goes to an out of house reservations service, that does not know about that room rate or its availability.
So if you really want to save the money, call them during normal (daytime) business hours and request it.
Just be aware that it is a SMALL room with a window that over looks nothing but a light well - no sights, no sounds. Still a nice room but not as nice as the $170 room, which is bigger and is on an outside wall, so you will see something!
We are still working on our tour companies to allocate some HT's for fesT rental (since they make their money on the tours, taking them out of service for 2 days is a problem for them. Stay tuned, I am sure some will be available (at least they promised some earlier this year.)
