Have any Amazon.com buyers received their training e-mails yet? If shipments are to begin March 1st ... and if Segway LLC says in the "Terms and Conditions of Sale" that they'll be e-mailing people about training "approximately thirty days" prior to shipment ... it should be pretty soon, right?

According to my calendar, there are only 29 more full days before March 1st.

Let's roll! [8]

From Parapgraph 10, "Training," in the Terms and Conditions of Sale:

"From February 1, 2003 through July 31, 2003, Segway LLC shall provide Training at least once per week at Segway LLC's Bedford, NH facility and at a site in Los Angeles, CA and at least once per month at sites in Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Atlanta, New York, Baltimore, and Orlando Fl. (After July 31, 2003, Training may only be provided at Bedford, NH and Los Angeles, CA). Approximately thirty days before notifying Purchaser that Segway LLC is prepared to ship Product to Purchaser, Segway LLC (by email to the email address provided by Purchaser to Amazon.com at the time the order is placed) shall provide Purchaser with a schedule of Training sessions to be held in the succeeding thirty days."

The first day that HT's will ship will most likely be the 3rd, as it is a Monday and I think they only ship Monday to Friday. Training could be offered midway through February and they could still deliver at the beginning of March. I am checking my mail multiple times a day, damn junk mail keeps setting off my Yahoo Messenger mail alert!

The terms say "approximately" 30 days and we've got 30 days till March 3rd. Perhaps this site will see alot of activity this weekend or Monday at the latest. I didn't order until after the new year, so I'll have to watch everyone scramble.

I called Segway yesterday about the training schedule. The customer service rep said that we should be getting two communications after the first of the month. The first one is to arrangement payment and then set up the training schedule. The second one will be mailed with the typical "Welcome to Camp Segway" information.

The e-mails are being batched and are being sent in order of receipt of the confirmation and deposit from Amazon. I suspect that the first batch of e-mails will go out Monday since Segway Customer service is closed over the weekend, and their phones will start ringing.

I spoke to Shannon at Segway Customer Support this morning and the e-mails regarding payment will start going out next week and will be based on the order of your Amazon order.

Payments will be made -not to Amazon- as were the deposits, but directly to Segway.

She had no clue about how the numbers on the prints correspond to the purchasing order or the training/delivery order. (I placed my order 38 minutes after they went on sale-Eastern Standard Time) and my number is 611).

After payments are received, e-mails will be sent offering a choice of training days in your area. Training lasts about 2 hours. You can bring one other person with you to the training. I got the impression trainings would be on the weekends (but don't hold me to it) and will occur in multiple cities simultaneously. She said they have a lot already built just waiting to be shipped (woul;dn't commit to a number)and are gearing up as fast as possible to meet the demand.

Delivery is 3-5 days after completion of the training.

I mentioned how excited all of us are who have placed orders and await training/delivery and how everyone on the phone at Segway like Shannon seems enthuastic and excited too.

I asked why Segway's web site offers little to no information about what's going on. Their "news" consists of talking about the pilot city in Florida or Oxygen booths in France. Why aren't the people working the web site EXCITED about what's going on with beginning of the training and release here? It's like we have to build a picture of what's going on from bits and pieces of information in this forum. She said she'd pass that on to the web staff.

I haven't been this excited since christmas eve as a 10 year old!

Hi drucilla.

You should call them. 866-4segway...go to "existing customers" ..."check on delivery".

They're super friendly and don't rush you off the phone at all. They just don't have a lot of information to give out. I eventually ran out of questions and they were hanging on like, "Don't you have any more?"

But they're really nice!

Hey, we're excited!! It's just that the site needs to reflect our current news and information to potential as well as existing customers. We take all feedback into consideration, though, and are working on ways to make it more interactive, fun, and exciting, but these things do take time... Thanks for the comments!

What's going on is we've been busy planning for everyone's training, and just working out some last minute details. We want to do this in a responsible manner, and also want to make sure you get the best possible experience! So stay tuned, as Amazon customers will be hearing from us very soon.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I know you all must be busier than one-armed paper hangers. It's really nice to see that Dean and everyone is holding to the March 1st date.

A totally new project like this has to really be overwelming from a business prospective what with trying to tool up to meet productivity demands without first knowing how many units you'll need to produce. Like how big a factory do you build?

A lot of companies would have just kept pushing back the date again and again...but you guys are right on the mark! You're all probably working overtime.

I'm glad you are all excited at web design too!

Thanks again, Wayne

We're standing at the brink of a really exciting time. The "Illustrious Thirty" and the Celebration folks have a bit of a jump on the rest of us, but "our time" is almost here!

To my friends at Segway LLC: Sorry, I just figured I needed to "rattle the cage" a little bit! The "natives" are getting restless! :) Thanks Jgrohol, for answering us. We know you guys are working hard to make this a great experience for everyone involved.

It's been a long road ... and people have been very patient. But we're ready to be a part of this thing too! I think you folks in New Hampshire will be very pleased with your newest group of "Ambassadors." I feel that the members of SegwayChat are a fairly representative sample of the people who have ordered or are interested in the Segway HT. And from what I've seen online, there's not a bad apple in the bunch. We all want to see this product succeed.

Hey there folks ... :)

We're all excited and anxious to receive our e-mails. As you guys can tell, I'm just as excited as anyone. But let's be sure and be a little patient over these next few days, and give Segway LLC the time they need to really do the job right.

Setting up this training in so many cities has to be an enormous job, and it's important that we be fully supportive of their efforts. I know we'll all be very pleased with the training and the product. The waiting game is as hard for me as it is for anyone, but we can all survive another week or so if that's what it takes. The wait will be worth it!

Hi Folks! [:P]
[8] - SOON!
I just talked to a person at Segway and she told me that the first training in Los Angles will be February 22 and that shipping is scheduled to occur 3 to 5 days after training. They are preparing to send out emails soon that will ask for the final payment on our Segways. (They don't take Discover but Visa, MasterCard and AmerEx will work). Maybe this week. She indicated that February 22 is the first training day around the country. Right after payment the training notification email will be sent. Lincoln Pickard [8D] linc2000@msn.com

I'm not excited but..... here are a few thoughts I had to get off my chest or I will explode.

Maybe we could get together and rent the waiting room in the pediatrics ward of a local hospital sharing our Pre-delivery pains with each other. Remember, the "Others" don't understand us and in most cases never have understood us .

If you even think one of your neighbors might have a shotgun, start now spreading the word that your crazy twin is coming to town sometime between March 1st and July 31st. You can add that he might even ship himself in a box (his name is Segway). Assure them that over time he will calm down and you will send him back where he came from. File this information about your twin, you can reuse it (if it was successful, (if it wasn't.. you'll never need it)) if there is a future suitable epoch in your life. (See following statement)

Following the advice of the preceeding could very well possibly save a life and the life you save may be your own.

When your Segway arrives, the VERY first thing to do is... GO TO THE BATHROOM. This is so you won't wet your pants because of your excitement upon opening the shipping container.

People in snow country should have fashioned a set of chains, just in case the Segway arrives while there is heavy heavy snow on the ground. I wonder if Mud and snow tires are available??
A powerful flashlight is needed just in case you have the Segway ready to go in the middle of the night.
If the weather outside is impossible (molten lava all around, ground opening up in an earthquake, tidal wave, etc.), and you have removed all furniture from the house... you will be able to ride your Segway around at will, in a loud voice, annoucing to your spouse, "Seeee... and you thought I was crazy".
Pray that the Segway comes with charged batteries.

Something for the spouse to do when your Segway arrives... Make a video of your spouse acting like an idiot while opening the shipping cantainer. To the idiot opening the said cantainer..... Better go to the bathroom again before opening the carton (see above). The video will prove to your children/grandchildren that you are capable of acting younger than them.

The video will also come in handy when using the insanity plea... in court... after being arrested... because your neighbors called the police... when you and your spouse were wrestling in the front yard... in your pajamas... in the mddle of the night... because one of you caught the other getting up and sneaking out to ride the Segway.

My message was posted 7 minutes after 10pm. Dont read into this too much. Their mail server may have taken several minutes to post these emails out to all of the people who ordered. The message is not personalized and does not indicate any sequence of training. Mass email delivery does take the mail servers sometime to post.

I am happy to hear that we will get our training video (wish it was on DVD!) before the training day. I will no doubt wear out the tape before the training day begins (Will Denzel and Ethan be there I wonder?)

Hey, if it takes the servers that long to process for a mass email (we're talking hours, here), it may well be an indication of a LARGE number of sales. <G> This might be the closest we get to seeing how many sales there are.

It is about time that Segway is communicating with us. I spoke to a customer service representative at Segway yesterday, and she told me that this e-mail was coming. From the tone and tenor of the conversation, it was apparent that the people at Segway are just as excited as we are. I got the impression that we were waiting for the kickoff of the Super Bowl and that Segway wanted to do it right.

She did go into depth over the procedure that would have to be followed. The next e-mail that we receive will be to make arrangements for payment. This e-mail will be sent in order of receipt of the Amazon deposit. After Segway has confirmation of payment, it will send you a second e-mail with a link to register for training. Your order will be finally processed once the training is completed, and the usual shipping time is 3-5 days.

Everyone is equally at the mercy of Segway regarding the training schedules. Some cities may have them earlier than others, so depending on where you live, you might consider traveling if you want your unit sooner than later. I really think that the training issue has been the principal concerns - making sure that there are competent trainers and finding locations.

I think it's more likely that they know that people are expecting to hear something 30 days out, and since March 1 is anticipated initial delivery, everyone is hoping theirs will come March 1st, so they've given us something that keeps us in the loop, even if it doesn't make the Segways available immediately <G>. I respect that in a company. I have to say that everyone I've worked with at Segway has had the same excitement that was noted earlier. Kim Stanley, who spent a good portion of her weekend before Christmas riding around on her Segway at our hotel in Manchester, talked about how fun it was to work with the new owners because we were so excited, and how she was encouraging people in the office to get involved with the trainings, since it was so much fun.

I unfortunately have to completely agree with Jim's assessment. Especially in light of the fact that I received my e-mail less than a minute after Mark's yet ordered my Segway 15 days after him. Another clue is in the fact that Sidsway received his e-mail at 10PM though he ordered the Segway on 11/18 while Alan Travis ordered his later on 11/19 yet received his e-mail earlier @ 7:59 PM.

Looks like regardless of the reason (server response time, order e-mails were actually created in, or whatever) the order and times we received them seem random and meaningless same as the print #'s.

Instead I think there is something else in the e-mails which is key. It states that through February the further e-mails regarding payment, training, etc. will be sent out. As we have already been informed that we won't be contacted regarding payment and training until the Segways are ready to be shipped within 30 days it appears the only remaining time constraint will be the availability of training, at least for those of us who have received this e-mail.... Or am I reading way to much into this? ;)

March 1st is 20 days away, and people need to be able to do things like make plans (always a desireable thing), airline reservationa, etc., in order to get to these training sessions. Let's not wait too long to get the ball rolling. Or should I say, get the Seg rolling?

Just think of that small army of Segs, held silently captive, yearning for freedom and fresh air. :D Listen closely ... you can almost hear the whispers:

"Ride me, glide me, just don't hide me!"

"Psst! C'mon, let me outta this box!"

"Hey buddy! ... It beats hoofing it!"

"Let me change your world!"

"Need a lift?"

We are waiting to part with a significant amount of money. Most of us have that money earmarked and put aside, so that's not a big issue. What is the issue is the fact that it might save people considerable further expense if they can make their airline reservations just as soon as possible. Last-minute airline ticket purchases tend to be pretty pricey.

I'm sure we'll get the details soon.

I am as anxious to pay and schedule my training day as any one on this board, but I agree with Brooster that we will get the details soon. We have all now patiently waited 83 days (I think that I counted correctly) since placing our orders on November 18th. I am positive that the people at LLC are just as anxious as we are to get the units into the marketplace. I would much rather have it take a little longer knowing that all of the distribution and training kinks have been cleared up. Be patient because in a few more weeks, we will all be showing off to the world our new mode of transportation.
