This has probaly been descussed before, but my computer can't really handle the search here.

So, why not use a bike instead of a seg?

Note: Question asked by uncle.

For me, because you can see EVERYTHING not just focus on the road like in a car or bike. And it will make you smile.. guaranteed. A bike can't do that.

Why not use an ABC instead of an XYZ?

It's America--we have the freedom to speak, the freedom to believe what we want, the freedom to spend our money how we choose, and the freedom to choose whatever reasonable tranportation option we prefer. Some people like their cars, or their bikes, or their motorized scooters, or their Segway HT.

The Segway HT is way fun. It's very safe, and it fits amazingly seamlessly into pedestrian environments. Whether milling around downtown or commuting 4 miles to work along scenic backroads, it's just a great way to move.

So, get moving :)

I am not complaining, but I have occasionally experienced some very slow searches here on SegwayChat.

Try this workaround:

Link (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=use+bike+site%3Asegwaychat.com)

I'ts a search for the terms "bike" and "use" on the website "segwaychat.com".

To do it, just go to google and type the following line into the search box:

use bike site:segwaychat.com

As for why a HT instead of a bike, I want to travel (w/o car) less than 10 miles with minimal perspiration on arrival. If I need to travel over 10 miles, it's the bike and some sweating. (The limit would be 20, but the Saphions haven't quite made it into the retail channel yet for I167s).

Because they won't let me ride a bike into the bank, movie theater, plumbing store, or chinese food take out.

This thing rules.

I've spoken with people who have to wear business attire for work that were excited because, while they would never consider riding a bike in a suit or in a skirt, they COULD see themselves gliding on a segway in such attire.

I wouldn't have been able to ride into the Verizon store to get my new cell phone yesterday on a bike.

Also, almost nothing gets communication/conversations going like a Seg...

As far as the body conditioning part, since getting my Segway, I have committed to get in a certain amount of walking and jogging per week before I will let myself glide the Seg. This keeps my discipline in and I actually may be getting more exercise now than before I got the HT.

I actually have a bike as well as my "i," so I guess the answer to, "which one" would simply be, "Why not both?"

I totally agree with voiceguy. I do about 20 miles on a bike every week to stay fit and do more Seg gliding when I feel like it or when it is convenient.

For me, and I love my bikes but don't ride as much as I did when I was younger, it is simpler...

Bike = exersize + transportation
Segway = transportation.

Why do I drive my sedan to Home Depot, as opposed to when I drive it with a utility trailer, or take my wife's minivan. It all depends on the project...
