I was channel surfing, and happened upon a show on Animal Planet network, where they had an opening video.

It was/is a show about pets in NYC and an animal hospital. The opening sequence stated that there are about 5 million pets in NYC and about as many cars... While this intro and voice over were on the screen, there was a video of an intersection...

Right thru the middle of the intersection, a man on an I167 glided thru. It happened so fast, I did not get a chance to look for a face to see who the star was...

Did anyone else see this?

No, but I caught a piece on one of the Chicago city government cable channels today, telling about how Chicago Fire Department paramedics now have a number of Segs. Flashing red LEDs and the whole deal. I found it humorous, actually. :)

Apparently a seg made an appearance on A Bear's Tail on Friday (Channel 4, UK) , but I missed it! Will probably get to see it repeated on E4 over the next few days. Apparently, the bear was riding it thinking how mean he was looking, but had to keep stopping to get up curbs! Avid Merrion (Bo Selecta fame) is usually pretty funny but it's one of those things you need to see for it to be funny. And I've not seen it :(

To segue, or not to segue, that is the question.

I caught a news segment the other day about the money that was being distrubuted for homeland security. Instead of concentrating funds to strategic locations, the money was being disributed evenly. They showed some really frivolous applications. There was one community where the money was used to indirectly support riding lawnmower races. Unfortunatly they also lumped in the police force that bought 4 segways for their bombsquad.

Misunderstanding breeds silliness. I mean--do you want your bomb tech to have 10 minutes and half of his strength to diffuse a bomb, or do you want him to have 30 minutes and all of his strength?

Additionally, I understand that in some places (like Savannah, GA, from an article I read) that a bomb tech often has to be put on an I.V. when done because the work is so unhealthily draining. Personally, I'd like to take care of the people who keep us all safe and help them have more time to do their very difficult jobs.

It was really disapointing to see the segways in that segment. As I remember, those suits weigh upwards of 80 lbs. and the techs are only allowed to spend 30 minutes in one.

Do you think it was our boy Itsi? There are SO many gliders in NYC anyway, it could be almost anyone, I will bet that they don't even know about SEG America, or Segway Chat, just a regular consumer going about his daily business.

When will we not even notice HT's on TV anymore? When will they become as commonly place as Cell Phones?

I hate to admit it, but I doubt it was Itsi or Jon. I did not have time to register the face, but I think people that I know well would likely be an instant recognition thing, by stance and likewise, even without a good look at the face... I could be wrong, but I don't think it was either...

Also, both man and I167 were non-remarkable. Both the men I mentioned stand out with even the most casual glance... And this seg was definatly plane-jane.

Well,

I'm not proud of watching this, but darn it it was good. On 'Hogan Knows Best' (a new reality show about Hulk Hogan and his family) the good 'ole Hulkster and his family ride around on a i170.

Peace,

I'm about to sell two units to one of our local bomb squads. After careful testing we realized that gliding up to an explosive device is NOT the step we want to take now. However, in both site inspection (e.g. BEFORE a device is found) and mobile search, the HT exceled.

We are also going to test in a dog search to see how the dog responds and if there is also value there.

Also, in case you are channel surfing and see a show on Dubai, take a look at the commercial that is about 21 minutes into the program....you'll see two folks riding around on Segways and a voice over about how much the company they work for can help US companies establish in the ME.

It showed in NY in late March and has shown in other markets since then.

I am an actor and HT owner in Los Angeles who is looking at being considered for TV and film placement as an HT operator ... who can also act(?!)

Aside from, of course, letting casting people and producers know I exist, does anyone have an idea of who I might contact in particular at LLC to "get on file" for various potential placement situations as well as possible on-camera and/or voice-over situations for videos and commercials and such?

I have been seeing a quick shot of a Segway on the Progressive Insurance commercial lately. Also, my brother and I have an informercial (Real Estate related) on TV that plays a couple of hundred times a week and we have a shot of us on our Seg's.
