Watching the Tour this morn (Thur) and they have small segments during broadcast (this was called Backstage Pass) This one was about what the riders drink during the race and in the background was a Segway glidding past. Its about 45 min into the start of the broadcast on OLN (Outdoors Living Network) They will rerun the race all day so look out for it ..............Robby

I also saw that segway in the background this morning. The segway had almost moved off the edge of the screen before I even noticed it. I also noted that it was about 45 minutes into the show and plan to watch again at that point in one of the repeats later today.

May all your days be Segway days!

I saw it too! I happened to glance up at the screen just as the segway rolled by. Who was that?
My husband is a cycling fan and loves to ride. Someday he would like to go and see a stage (preferably a mountain stage) in person. I'm all for it now if I can take my segway!

Hard-core "spandex" cyclists and Segways mixing ... brings to mind an old Buddy Holly tune.
"That'll be the day"
Edit: By the way and for the historical record, it's the "spandex" cyclists who have shown hostility toward us since Day One ... not the other way around.
I guess spandex cyclists like and accept pollution-belching cars (whom they also yell at) more than they like and accept us. Ever notice how every male bike rider in spandex thinks he's Lance Armstrong these days? Lance does commercials for Subaru.

Maybe it's just that the French are more accepting of non-polluting resources or that the Oxygene stations are making a great impression.

Are the Oxygene Stations making any impression at all? Nothing new has shown up on the web since the start of the project in Lille last December. (Personally, I was more interested in the 25 rental e-bikes rather than the 16 Segways.) Looks to me like another of those subsidized pilot projects that get a lot of fanfare but no follow thru.

As always, 100% Spandex free.

If riding 2 hours is fun, then riding 20 hours is 10 times more fun.

And I'll betcha that the Segway seen gliding around the TdF backstage belonged to Segway LLC's partner Michelin. Michelin has been big in cycling since 1891 and is a co-sponsor of 2 TdF teams. Seems natural to me that their corporate people might zip around on Segways.
