From today's news release regarding their June 30th quarterly results: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=72609&p=irol-newsArticle&t=Regular&id=729715&
"As a result of higher than expected orders from Segway LLC and the successful ramp-up of our operations in China, we expect strong results for Q1 2006 and have the opportunity to exceed the previous guidance for Q2 2006," said Stephan Godevais, chairman of the board of Valence Technology Inc.
Valence is providing the following financial guidance:
-- Projected revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2006 of
approximately $3.2 million, representing 35% sequential
quarterly growth;
-- Projected revenue for the second quarter of fiscal year 2006
in the range of $4.5 million to $5.5 million."
Is this growth entirely from LLC??? All I know is that the batteries are coming on a fast boat from China! When will battery shipments meet demand?

Wish the ship would sail via the UK on its way - or atleast somewhere in Europe, which would make it accessible to soo many more people.

To segue, or not to segue, that is the question.

An Ode To Li-Ion Batteries
with a little paraphasing
I'd love to get you
Off a slow boat from China
All to myself alone
Get you and keep you
In my glide ever more
Leave all your users
Weepin' Off a far away shore
Out from the briny
With the moon big and shiny
Melting your heart of stone
Lion I'd love to get you
Off a slow boat from China
All by myself alone
I'd love to get ya
Off a slow boat from China
All to myself alone
A twist of the handle
And a grip on the right
Drifting and dreamin'
Lion check the GPS with you light
Out from the ocean
Far from all the commotion
Melting your heart of stone
Lion I'd love to get you
Off a slow boat from China
All to myself alone
Well - all of us, not just me.

Skip,
It's so darn hot out here you can't milk those cacti any more.
In Vegas at present and it's 115 but the Segway still roams the strip. Was in the Fashion Mall today to visit the Apple Store. Dinky little thing compared to the flagship store on Boul Mich.
Going to ride the monorail this evening.

Did ya bring your bungee cords? If anyone can get a Seg on a train, it's you. We miss you here in Chicago Robert. Mackinac Race starts on Saturday. Sure sounds hot out there ... but it's a "dry heat," right?
Take care and have fun,

It ain't Thanksgiving and this turkey won't buy that dry heat bit anymore. It is easier to breathe though and that's why I moved.
I was at first challenged on the monorail until saw my sticker. Neat little thing that train. I could ride right on from the platform. lean in up in the designated area and leave it in balance mode during the trip. It rode like a charm but the distance you travel all told is not that great.
I found out today that I rode in on its 365th day in existence as it opened a year ago today. Great way to get from the Sahara to the MGM.

Sounds like a neat (albeit short) ride. Yep, that desert heat is a cooker, and I don't miss my old days in Tucson much at all. That "dry heat" business is a bunch of hooey. It's hot as hell, you still sweat, and you have to put beach towels across the dashboard of your car to keep it from getting baked. The upside is the nice winters. Have a good trip up to the Canyon!

It was a little confusing, all of the possible combinations, but from what I remember Phil saying at SegwayFest NH that the Segway's Lithium Ion batteries cannot go on a plane with passengers on it - a commerical airliner. Period.
The entire Segway with Li-Ion batteries can be shipped by Segway via air cargo, but a pair of batteries by themselves cannot be shipped via air cargo. I suspect this is because of a paperwork issue since Segway has the proper paperwork for shipping the whole thing, but individual people do not have the paperwork to ship just a pair of batteries.

Right, Brooster. Phil from Segway said that they can ship batteries installed in a machine via air cargo, but not a pair of battery packs by themselves. He thought it was wierd also.
Under no circumstances can Segway's Lithium-Ion batteries go on a passenger plane - in the cabin, in luggage or a cargo.

Ok, so here's a guess as to why Li-ions can at times be shipped attached to the Seg:
It's possible that if the batteries are attached (screwed into) the machine; in the event of a situation occuring, the damage would be possibly a bit more "contained" than if the batts are just sitting somewhere (potentially not packaged very well) on their own.
Also, the law/regulation probably was written with the concept in mind of the batteries being INSIDE a device, thus containing damage -- to a greater or lesser degree -- to inside the unit.
